Video Concept: “moved and moving: art as social memory, and the social impact of technical invention” The kind of art to be shown will make possible the interaction with the public. The points of departure will show different ways with people in their immediate environment creating small shifts in how we think about it, making video artworks accessible to everybody.

For the modernist poet T. S. Eliot as for the avant-garde filmmaker Maya Deren, the artist is less a personality than a medium; in other words, art is not the expression of an artist personality, rather the artist is a medium in which impressions and experiences combine in peculiar and unexpected ways. The video art project „On Display“ offers a platform for artists to question the what and how of dis-playing, in the context of the commonality of display technologies to video art, global news transmission, and social networking.

The invited artists are selected according to their work related to topics such as global warming, social media context, global financial system, global energy, the values of traditional and non traditional institutions, natural resources, the city planning in the communities, production and consumption, the changing influences of the US and China. All these make possible a redefinition of the artist in relationship to the public in appreciating video art.

The diverse perspective of the artists issues; social and political themes that distinguish the conceptual and installation form of art. The different working methods in contemporary art concerned with human interaction may be useful such as working with others, interactive activities, collective action, and participatory practice.
