L’Innombrable, an installation inspired by the relationship between the body and thoughts, recurring motives, such as the ambiguity of natural forms and the impact of physical forces. Viewers are confronted with the physical presence of what appear to be gigantic black rocks. But these rocks move as if possessing some elemental nature, or autonomous force. The installation consists of three large sculptural pieces that are in constant movement making different sounds in the space. Each of the three pieces consist of a painted plastic bag, within which is an aluminium foil bag. Within the aluminium foil bags are electric motors and wood, the movement of which, against the aluminium foil, produces the sounds heard, and the movements seen. With L’Innombrable, the extraordinary is thus rendered from everyday materials, and the dialogue created between the sacred and the profane resembles a theatrical scene of life and death. L’Innombrable was first exhibited at Art Basel Parcours, 2012. Eduardo Basualdo was born in 1977 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he currently lives and works. He studied at the Instituto Universitario Nacional de Arte (IUNA).
